Calling All Secondary School Math Teachers!

The RabbitMath team has created some engaging activities and we invite you to use them in your mathematics classrooms. These new activities can be used in a variety of grade levels and can be found online.

Sophisticated Stories from the High School Classroom.

This Spring, you are invited to work and play in your mathematics classroom with two or three of our RabbitMath activities most of which can work at different grade levels.

Further to this, you are invited to take part in a research study, organized by researchers, Dr. Peter Taylor, Queen’s University, and Dr. Chris Suurtamm, University of Ottawa, that seeks to understand how teachers and students engage in these tasks, what mathematical understanding emerges, and how they can best be supported.

Your participation in this study would involve completing a survey to share your experiences working with these activities. Your responses will help to make adaptations to the activities as well as help us determine ways to better support teachers and students in mathematics classes.

We also are offering teachers the opportunity to join others in sharing their experiences working with these activities at the Canadian Mathematical Society 2023 Summer meeting (Ottawa, June 2-5). Those who are interested in this experience please email us rabbitmath123@gmail.com.

This is a unique opportunity to talk about your classroom, your students, and your experiences working with these activities with other secondary teachers as well as with university faculty who are looking for a better understanding of the high-school mathematics classroom.

Through the generosity of our sponsors (see below) we are able to provide funding that will cover your registration and hopefully (for those out of town) a good slice of your travel expenses. Those who are interested should be sure to indicate that interest on the survey.

If you have any questions about these opportunities then please send us an email.
